Call for Postgraduate Studies (Master and PhD) (PDF)

The Department of Materials Science and Technology (MST) of the University of Crete, announces a call for a limited number of positions for postgraduate students for the academic year 2017-2018.

The Graduate Program requires daily participation of students in full time status. Successful completion leads to:

The main focus of the Graduate Program is the specialization and conduct of innovative research in cutting-edge of materials science and technology at a high competitive international level, leading to publications in journals of high impact factor. Also, as part of their training, students will assist in the instruction of undergraduate courses. Knowledge of English is mandatory.

The application, motivation letter, and the recommendation letters are completed in specific forms distributed by the Secretariat, or, alternatively, below.

Documents to accompany the application:

  1. Transcripts.
  2. A certified copy of formal degree or certificate of completion of studies.

    Note: Candidates with degrees obtained outside Greece need to follow the procedure of ratification of the Greek state. This is a standard procedure and for details they may contact the secretariat of MST.

  3. Proof of English proficiency
  4. Up to three (3) letters of recommendation
  5. Copies of publications, if available, or any other supplementary information at the discretion of the candidates

The recommendation letters should be sent directly to the Graduate Studies Committee.

The application submission deadline is set for May 5th, 2017. The selection process will be conducted by the Committee and involves an interview that will take place on May 12th, 2017, betweeen 10:00 to 13:00. Candidates residing outside Crete are not required to participate in person. They can be interviewed via teleconference. Applications for the PhD program are accepted throughout the year.
