Abstract

Many biological and physical samples are optically very thin, which makes imaging such objects a rather challenging task. The main aim of this thesis will be to develop a novel imaging technique based on the amplification of the complex refractive index using optical cavities. The advantage of using a cavity is that the light interacts with the object multiple times thus enhancing any small change induced by the interaction. I will apply this system to both physical and biological systems.
