Περίληψη

By definition, electrochemistry deals with conversions between electrical and chemical energy. Therefore, it comprises the cornerstone for the transition to advanced energy and chemical technologies of the future, which will be independent of fossil fuels. To develop such technologies, it is necessary to understand the processes taking place at electrochemical interfaces, to enable the rational design of active, stable and selective electrocatalysts. I will show representative parts of my past and current research activities on electrode processes which occur at electrocatalysts used in low temperature fuel cells, water electrolyzers, or reactors for the synthesis of value-added chemicals.
